Treat yo self.
A fun new restaurant concept with a laid-back vibe and a rooftop bar. We were brought in to help create an identity and atmosphere that could keep up with a place that would offer food like a peanut butter and banana burger (sounds weird, but actually it's our favorite).
WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Our naming process starts with exhaustive research and establishing grading criteria. From there we brainstorm, discuss, evaluate, revisit, select, and revise. We test multiple options within the client market.
The goal was finding a name that would stand out and hint at the restaurant’s quirky vibe. We realized that a “bum steer” is a misdirection or a piece of false information, so if someone gives you a bum steer, then you would have grounds for beef!
After finding a fitting name, we crafted a visual identity that would embody Bumsteer’s fun spirit. We started with a modern set of wordmarks, bold enough to stand out, with enough personality to create the unique atmosphere we wanted to capture. Then, we created an expansive “brand universe” to give Bumsteers the charm and personality it deserved. Our favorite piece had to be the custom Burger Boi illustration, because it gives Bumsteers that iconic identity that so many restaurants search for.
With the right identity in place, we set out to apply the new brand with a set of collateral and signage, from neon signs to menus and tray paper. Bumsteers is now rolling and full of families and college crowds looking to try a new burger or get a drink at the rooftop bar!
